Ms. Hays, the band teacher here, has been teaching since September. In fact, the job here was her very first teaching job, and now, she’s been teaching here for about a month. She had a really good band teacher growing up, and so that is what inspired her to teach in the first place. She has traveled to many places around the world; The United States, Mexico, Scotland, England, Greece, Turkey, and Taiwan. In Canada, she’s traveled to British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Quebec, and Ontario.
While she was in Taiwan, she climbed a mountain, and reached the top at four o’ clock in the morning to see the sun rise. Now, she teaches grades seven to twelve here in Strathmore, but has also lived in Olds, Red Deer, and Edmonton. Ms. Hays’ favorite food is chocolate, her favorite sport is yoga, and she has several pets- A dog named Riley, a cat named Ginger, and a goat named Billy. However, after quite a while of thinking, she decided that she likes dogs better than cats.
In order to start teaching, she went to the University of Alberta, and her favorite grade was Grade Three. Now, she plays the clarinet and also enjoys making jewelry. Her favorite season is summer, her favorite band is the Beatles, but her favorite genre of music is still classical. |
