PRESENTATION

Storyboard

Meet with your group to plan the storyboard of your multimedia presentation.

Organize your images and ideas into a storyboard. With your group decide what images and quotations will appear on each slide of your presentation in order to tell the story of your region. For each slide, determine what image, text and audio will be used. Use text sparingly, remembering to use it for captions and titles or to keep it to no more than one sentence per slide. The most effective photojournals rely on images and graphics to tell the story and the printed word becomes secondary. Remember the purpose of this presentation is to:

  • convey the important features of this region using art, photos and other images.

  • depict the special human and physical characteristics that distinguish your region of North America from all of the other regions being investigated

  • illustrate how human and physical forces have changed the environment of the region

  • illustrate the unique problems, challenges and/or issues that this region is currently facing or will face in the future because of human or physical impacts.

Think about how your group can effectively utilize images to create a photojournal display of your region that is so compelling and interesting that it will be featured in National Geographic Magazine.

Record the names of your group members on your storyboard and submit a copy of it to the teacher.

Narrative

Meet with your group to write the story of your region to accompany your multimedia presentation.

Create a compelling narrative to weave the story of your multimedia presentation together. It must include:

  • an engaging, captivating, motivating and stimulating introduction

  • elaboration of the information on the slides being presented that maintains the interest of the audience

  • a conclusion that summarizes, convinces and clinches your presentation, leaving your audience feeling satisfied and awe inspired.

Record the names of the group members on your narrative and submit a copy of it to the designated folder in the teacher's drop box. Save it as last name narrative (eg. Smith narrative). This way, your teacher can identify who is handing in the file, and what the file is.

Assemble and Rehearse

Work with your group to assemble and rehearse your presentation

Incorporate your images, text and sounds into a multimedia presentation using Power Point or some other multimedia application. Determine which group members will present which parts of the narration, ensuring that everyone in the group has an equal speaking part. Rehearse your presentation so that it is smooth and you feel confident in presenting it.

Self Assessment of Presentation

Use the scoring rubric and guiding questions to prepare a written self assessment of your project.

Save your self assessment as your last name, first name, assessment (eg. Smith, Bob assessment). This way, your teacher will know who is handing in the file and what the file is, and the files will be in alphabetic order. Submit it to the designated folder in the teacher's dropbox.
