Isn’t it amazing how fast January turns into May? Almost everyone has been told at least once by their parents to try going over what they did at school that day, and looking back you probably should have. It would have made studying for the finals coming up in a little over a month! But knowing most people will take a quick look over their notes the day before the exam and hope that the review that was done in class will be enough to slide into the next grade. But that’s not going to happen.

These exams are so big that a 60% can drop an 80% average down to a 70%. So how can you study for these huge tests? Easy. It all starts in January or February when maybe taking a quick 15 minute break from doing whatever you want to be doing and take a quick look over your notes just to make sure that you understand everything, and looking over once a day for 15 minutes will help studying in June tons. You will have a basic understanding of everything and you know that nothing will confuse you while you are actually preparing for these tests. There are lots of ways that different ways to study for these tests.

Most people read their material over a few times then test themselves or get a parent or friend to test them. A twist on this type of studying is testing your parents, it can help because you are most likely thinking of most of the same questions the teacher is. So you study and make your parents feel dumb at the same time. Do you have trouble remembering names and dates? Try and associate these with things that are easier to remember. Things like the Sin, Cosine and Tangent SohCahToa. A last tip: the best way to get all the information out of a question is Reread it once or twice, underline the important stuff and put a line through the stuff that is there to confuse you. Don’t over complicate your answers. Short and sweet is the way to go.
